Interview with the Author

First off, congratulations on your debut! Tell us about Run, Twitter-style.  (140 characters or less)
An author doing research for a book discovers a killer and soon he is on her trail.
Excellent! What was the first seed that sparked the story that would become Run?
The prologue is true. I do remember a news story from when I was a kid about a girl killed locally. I remember that she was a few years older than me at the time and that they never found her killer.
Do you plan to write more stories based in the same world, maybe continue the time-line?
The third book in the series released July 21st. I will be writing in other worlds for a while, but I might come back to these characters. I really enjoyed writing them.
Did you always want to write when you grew up?
I did! I remember writing these stories when I was little about this boy and his dog Ralphie.
Why did you settle on Mystery/Suspense?  Do you think you’ll ever leave the genre?
Ever since I read Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None I have loved Mysteries. They are my favorite types of stories to read so naturally I love writing them too.
Do you work with an outline, or just write?
I start with an outline, but there comes a point in the book where the story and the characters just take over. It seems like in each book something ended up happening that was not planned. I love when that happens.
OOH, I do too! Thanks for taking the time to share with us today Becky!
About the Author

Run is Becky Johnson’s first published novel, but not her first book. Books are Becky’s passion and always have been. She used to get in trouble in school for reading during class! Becky has Master’s degrees in social work and history, and for her day job she is a social worker. In her writing, she tries to answer a question that is important to both social work and history: Why? She always wants to know why people do the things they do or feel the way they feel. When not reading or writing she enjoys yoga, running, cooking, and makes a pretty mean chili!
